Hiking Benefits
Reasons to Take a Hike!

With so many hiking benefits, the only question is, "why not?" Hiking is basically walking on a trail in a natural setting, such as a park or forest.

Here are some of the reasons why hiking is great for your health. They're also great ways to get your friends and family out on the trail too! :)

--Almost anyone can do it. If you can walk, you can probably hike. Depending on your endurance, you can hike as long or short as you want. Elevation also comes into play. Unless you're in great physical shape, build up your strength before attempting a steep hike.

--It's cheap. Most parks and recreation areas don't charge extra to use the hiking trails. So, the cost of hiking is only in the entrance fee, if there is one.

--No special equipment necessary for day hiking. All you really need is a good pair of comfortable shoes.

--It's a chance to enjoy nature. Wildflowers, scenic views, and a chance to spot wildlife

are all great reasons to head outdoors for a hike.

--Hiking is relaxing. The psychological benefits of hiking include having a chance to reflect on life, unwind, and relax in the beauty of nature. It's a chance to get away from the everyday grind and just be thankful for all God has given you.

--It's weight-bearing exercise. Hiking helps prevent and improve osteoporosis, which is a disease that leads to brittle bones.

--Hiking is aerobic exercise, giving cardiovascular benefits. Climbing up hills is good for getting your heart beating.

--You get the benefits of Vitamin D from the sun while you're hiking outside.

--Other health benefits include: lower blood pressure, preventing heart disease, weight loss, lowering cholesterol levels, and preventing colds and flu.

--It's a way to spend time with family and friends. Enjoy quality time with loved ones while you enjoy nature and get fit too!

Now that you know all the hiking benefits there are, why not hit the trail now? Happy Hiking! :)
